Edward, Susanna, and Malone

Edward certainly has gone through a lot of changes. At first, he was selfish and uninterested in the world around him. Even though he had someone who loved him very much (Abilene), he ignored her affection and cared more about his clothes and his hats. From down in the mud at the bottom of the sea to being buried in a heap of trash to riding high on the shoulder of the fisherman and traveling with a hobo, Edward has been through quite a journey so far. Through it all, he has become a much different bunny from when we first got to know him in the safe and warm home of Abilene.

What change in Edward do you like the most, and what makes you feel this way? List your thoughts and comments below!

Make Your Predictions and Add to Our One School, One Book Blog

Each chapter in the book brings unexpected twists and turns that make you want to keep turnging the pages to see what will happen next. Taking time to make predictions based on what you have read and then seeing if they come true can be very exciting, especially if you are right!

So far, we have journeyed with Edward from his home to a ship to the depths of the sea, only to have the good fortune of being rescued by some fishermen. Based on what we have read so far, what do you think will happen next?

Share your comments with our entire school community by posting your predictions below. If you're uncertain, why don't you share your favorite part of the story? Students that post a comment may receive a stamp or ticket from their passport.

Remember to use only your first name in your comment.

Today, we revealed that our school will be reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, by Kate DiCamillo. We had an exciting kick-off event this morning to announce the book to our school community. In fact, our local NBC affliate, WHEC, covered this celebration.

Children are bringing their books home this afternoon as well as a bookmark that lists the chapters to be read each day and a letter describing the purpose of this program. What is One School, One Book?

In Hilton, we believe that our schools are the heart of our community. We feel this not just in the school but throughout the community as well. We are very thankful to many people who have graciously donated time, money and re-sources to support our school’s latest endeavor, One School, One Book. The list includes the Hilton Board of Education, The Hilton Education Foundation, Village VEPTO, Mayor Lee, Senator Joseph Robach, Tony Cariglio, many Village Elementary Retirees and an anonymous donor.
